Rotary filters for purification and value addition in processing of polymer melts

The rotary filtration system from Gneuss Kun-ststofftechnik Bad Oeynhausen/Germany, is characterized by its rotary disc with screen elements arranged in a ring pattern. The disc rotates between two filter blocks. The sealing is achieved by extremely flat and hard contact surfaces, with no need for any sealing elements - a practically wear-free system. The rotation of the disc ensures the automatic exchange of contaminated filter elements without any influence on the process. The rotary filtration systems avoid both processing interruptions during screen changes and the introduction of contamination into the final product due to pressure spikes during screen changes. These two factors alone mean that the replacement of a double piston screen changer with a rotary filtration system enable a manufacturer of ABS/SAN with a throughput rate of 11,000 kg/h to avoid 8,250 kg/h of "off grade" production per day.
