Advansa: New PET for monofilaments

The European polyester producer Advansa NV, Hoofddorp/Netherlands, has developed and patented a new technology to improve hydrolysis resistance in polyesters. The new polyester family is proven successful in applications such as monofilaments for paper machine clothing. This patented technology which Advansa developed with a partner does not involve adding carbodiimides to the resins to improve the hydrolysis resistance of polyesters, given that carbodiimides can be toxic, which can limit the applications. Advansa employs a technology that does not require an additional process such as compounding or SSP.
