Techtextil 2011:25 years of technologies, products,expansive markets

Before the 1st Techtextil trade fair premiered in Frankfurt 25 years ago, the discussion from the industry surrounding the controversial event tended to be critical. Do we need so much publicity for such a narrow niche market? The German chemical fiber industry as well as large technical textile manufacturers did not participate, holding back until the 3rd Techtextil in 1989. Only DuPont from Geneva was convinced about the trade fair concept from the beginning, noting that 50% at their stand were visitors, the remaining 50% other exhibitors. For many of those that did participate, the 1st Techtextil was already a complete success: 197 exhibitors, 5,000 visitors! The 2nd fair followed directly in 1987 and then came the introduction of the development cycle from the industry with a corresponding 2-year cycle for the fair.
