Specialty fibers in sports and leisure textiles

摘要

The sports textiles sector includes specialist apparel for specific sports each with its own particular functionality. The performance fibers, yarns, fabrics and finishes developed for this specialist sector are increasingly transferring to the high end of the mass market. The increasing cultural importance of sportswear in fashion has the consequence that only 25% of sportswear is used for active sports or exercise. This paper emphasizes the various specialty fibers used in the design and development of sports textiles.
