The technical textiles market demands high-end products made from high-performance yarns, which are usually expensive. Processing just high-performance yarns enables production costs to be reduced. The new portal weft-insertion machine by Karl Mayer Liba Textilmaschinenfabrik, Naila/Germany, is a highly productive and flexible warp knitting machine with portal weft insertion. In line with the stitches it produces warp-knitted textiles having reinforcing yarns in the 90°- or in 0°- and 90°-directions. It can process carbon, glass, basalt, aramid and high-strength polyester fibers, amongst others, whilst making maximum use of the yarns, since the weft is inserted with no waste whatsoever.
