3D printing for functionalization of textiles - aspects of durability and coating adhesion

3-dimensional (3D) printing is an established technique for production of prototypes and realization of individual pieces. This technique is as well use-able for functionalization of textiles. Additional to the application of the functional property it is also possible to apply similarly a 3D structure to the textile surface. Here, the term "functionalization in the third dimension" could also be used. However, the main condition for the success of such a functionalization in a textile application is its durability. The main parameter here is the adhesion of 3D printings on the textile substrate, which is discussed below.
