摘要

The knee is the joint most often injured during skiing. By monitoring specific parameters like the knee flexion and the muscle activity of the thigh, it is possible to predict the chance of a possible injury. These data can be used for an appropriate reaction of the ski binding. In case of exceeding the threshold values, the ski binding can automatically release to protect the knee from possible injuries. The Technical University of Munich and Reutlingen University have developed ski underwear which measures the knee flexion angle in real-time and sends these data wirelessly to an evaluation unit.
