60 years of 'Technical Textiles' From bast fibers to high-tech textiles

In 1957 - 60 years ago - the publishing house Deutscher Fachverlag (dfv), Frankfurt/Germany, with its flagship "Textilwirtschaft" took over the technical trade journal for cellulosic and synthetic fibers, founded in 1950 by the Jentgen Verlag in Berlin/Germany. It speaks for the far-sightedness and vision of the publishers and editors at that time, because in the world-wide production of textile fibers, synthetics achieved a share of only 1 % in 1950. Even by 1960 this share had only increased to 5%. With this magazine takeover, the publishing house became involved in the publication of technical fiber and textile journals, which in the following 5 decades were considerably expanded by additional takeovers of periodicals.
