Nonwovens and composites - two dynamic markets growing together

In a recent study for the European Commission, Gherzi forecasts a growth of worldwide nonwovens markets from approx. 9 million tons in 2014 to 12.4 million tons in 2020, equivalent to a CAGR of around 6 %. In the same period, global markets for composites (fiber reinforced plastics) will also grow by 6% per annum to reach 12.6 million tons in 2020 (sources: JEC and Gherzi estimates). The growth of composites is and will be driven, amongst other things, by the megatrend 'weight saving'. The driver of the growth of nonwovens is, among others, the development of ever new nonwovens applications.
