Nonwovens and knitwear are easily shaped, but not stable enough to maintain form permanently. Therefore adhesive components are needed to stabilize the textile. For this purpose, Grilon adhesive fibers and yarns from Ems-Chemie AG, Business Unit Ems-Griltech, Domat/Ems, Switzerland, come into play. They are blended in during manufacture of the textiles, which are then heated to a temperature above the melting point. Adhesive fibers and yarns melt, bond to the textile and, after cooling, maintain the required shape. A further major advantage is the significant increase in durability of the textiles achieved through the bond.
