Eliminating E-Reserves: One Library's Experience

Despite six years with a successful e-reserves system, this library looked at alternatives to alleviate staff workload, to reduce costs, and to use the campus-wide portal for delivering e-reserve materials. The project's aim was to meld electronic reserves into the Angel classroom management system, with the end result that students and faculty received a streamlined delivery system with the same level of support from the Library that they had relied upon and appreciated. The Library benefited from reduced workload and significant cost savings. This study examines the rationale behind the migration, project considerations such as copyright and tech support, timelines, costs, and outcomes of the project.
