摘要

ALA Annual in Chicago was the setting for the celebration of 25 years of programs by the Authority Control Interest Group (ACIG). Rather than look back at past efforts to put data manipulation and management issues to the forefront of library concerns, the program focused on the fruition of years of effort to enhance access through greater attention to and implementation of automation on a global scale through cooperative data control and enhancement in the online environment. Two ACIG founding goals-"the international sharing of authority data" and "new approaches to authority control"-were demonstrated in the current projects and activities presented.
