Report of the LITA/ALCTS Electronic Resources Management Interest Group Meeting. American Library Association Midwinter Meeting, Denver, February 2018

The Electronic Resources Management Interest Group (ERMIG) convened a discussion panel at the 2018 Midwinter Meeting of the American Library Association (ALA) in Denver, Colorado, on February 11. Featuring five speakers and one moderator, this panel teased out nuances, best practices, and strategies for relationship management among vendors, libraries, and consortia. Entitled "Vendor Relationships: Build, Negotiate, Transform," this conference session covered common frustrations and misconceptions as well as opportunities for doing better, delivering perspectives from two vendor representatives, two library leaders, and one library consortium director. The session opened with ten-minute presentations by each panelist in turn, followed by discussion among the panelists, who also fielded audience questions. The panel organizer and moderator was interest group chair Michael Rodriguez, Licensing & Acquisitions Librarian at the University of Connecticut. Approximately 50 people attended this 90-minute session.
