Becoming an author starts out with basic advice about writing-too basic, you may think-but once you get past the introductory chapters, David Canter and Gavin Fairbairn reward you with the inside scoop on getting published. The authors draw on their extensive experience to illustrate their points throughout the book, and although they write for a UK audience, the principles will apply broadly. Canter and Fairbairn say that they want to "help researchers and other professionals. . . become successful academic authors" (2), and their book is tightly focused toward that purpose.
