Where to Find Rat Burrows - Unfortunately, rat burrows are not usually out in the open and easily visible. They are most often in the ground (but not always) and underneath the protective edges of large, heavy objects such as concrete slabs, stone walls, railroad ties, stacked lumber, and debris, brush, or wood piles. Burrows can also be found at the edges of foundations and in thick vegetation such as heavy groundcover plants or under low, dense shrubbery.
