Balancing the Underfloor Air Distribution at the FedEx Institute of Technology

Underfloor air systems, in which raised-access floors serve as plenums for running cables and distributing supply air, are growing in popularity-but their complexity poses design and balancing challenges. The FedEx Institute of Technology at the University of Memphis campus is an educational center of close to 90,000 square feet, dedicated to teaching the newest advances related to the Internet and other information technologies. The building's laboratories and classrooms both incorporate reconfigurable interior space to accommodate the newest technological upgrades as they become available.The advanced presentation center employs a system that gives each member of the conference a direct voice link to the speaker, and wireless internet access is available in most areas of the facility.
