There is a significant lack of information about how to properly apply sealant to duct seams. There are plenty of howto's out there, but they lack instruction on how to go about sealing the ductwork. They explain why ductwork should be sealed, advise calling someone to help locate the leaks, and then they simply instruct that the leaks be sealed with mastic and not duct tape.
