We study Random Sequential Adsorption (RSA) of linear chains consisting of n circular discs on a two-dimensional continuum substrate. The study has been carried out for n = 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 25, 30, 50, 70, 100 and 300. For all values of n, instantaneous coverage, Theta(t), in late time regime, is found to approach to jammed state coverage, Theta(infinity), in a power law fashion, Theta(infinity) - Theta(t) similar to t(-p). It is observed that, with the increase in n, the exponent p goes on decreasing from the value 033 for n = 2 to the value 0.20 for n = 20 and then again starts rising to reach the value of 033 for large n. It is also found that for n <= 20, the exponent p has near perfect correlation with the coefficient of departure from convexity. On the other hand the jammed state coverage Theta(infinity) is found to depend both on the coefficient of departure from convexity as well as on the aspect ratio of the chain. (C) 2015 Elsevier B.V.
