Suppression Components Offer EMI Shielding

Electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding and attenuation components are critical to EMC specifications. A variety of solutions are available to designers. One way to illustrate the need for EMI shielding and EMI control products is to look at Mil-Standard-461E. This Department of Defense (DOD) interface standard covers the "Requirements for the Control of Electromagnetic Interface Characteristics of Sub-Systems and Equipment." Although Mil-Std-461E does not directly apply to miniature modules, it is a useful example of what to consider when "hardening" a design.
