Cooperation Leads to RoHS Compliance

As the July 1, 2006, RoHS deadline nears, many companies are announcing that their products are RoHS-compliant. The regulations to reduce the use of lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium, cadmium, PBB, and PBDE in electronic and electrical equipment had many component manufacturers focusing on the finish line, rather than strategies for running the whole race. This article looks at how a collaboration of competing SMT connector manufacturers prepared for those deadlines.
