The Year in Review: The Good, Bad and Ugly

The elimination of lead from our palette of soldering materials is moving toward completion under the RoHS Directive, accompanied by a panoply of books, seminars and training courses. Many resources have been expended to accomplish this goal, with many questioning the benefits vs. the expenditures. While there are many highly competent chemists in the soldering materials, cleaning agents and conformal coatings community, the same may be true in the component design and development sector.
