While the EMS industry has been well-established for many years, the outsourced electronics after-market services industry is in its infancy and still fragmented. In fact, the aftermar-ket services industry looks much like the EMS industry did 15 years ago. Similar ' market forces are driving the trend toward outsourcing aftermarket services, making it a reality within the electronics industry. Electronics aftermarket services focus on the end of the product life cycle. These ser-vices manage product life cycles from new product introduction (NPI) to end-of-life (EOL); from field service, logistics and repair to e-waste and asset recovery. By optimizing service supply chains and delivering asset velocity throughout this part of the product life cycle, solutions can have a dramatic effect on improving customer satisfaction, enhancing/protecting brands, reducing return rates, lowering total cost of service and lowering inventory pipelines and investment dollars.
