'sticking To The Targets'

S&WE spoke with her about the future of wind energy in the US.rnWhile still under Bush, the target was an-nounced ofachieving a 20% share of wind power in the USA by 2020. Has the election of Obama changed anything regarding this target? Annette Nüsslein: The target - an ambitious one -will certainly be kept. The AWEA (American Wind Energy Association: editor's note) has thus changed its positioning and is now focussing more strongly on actually achieving this target. The many active states, which in the last few years under Bush - and against Bush - moved the subject ofwind power forward, have now even come togeth-er to form a "Governors' Wind Energy Coalition". 24 Governors wrote to Obama at the beginning of the year in an open letter. They energetically supported this target and laid out the effects on American con-sumers (see info box). This gave the subject of "green jobs" a large boost in the public eye. Green jobs are good jobs and secure jobs - this opinion is now spreading widely amongst the general public.
