Types of CSP

At present, there are four types of solar thermal power stations. They all have in common that the solar radiation is focussed onto a receiver. Parabolic trough power stations are the established standard. In this type of power station, curved mirrors are used to concentrate sunlight onto an absorber tube mounted at the focal point. The mirrors track the sun on a single axis. The power stations achieve an annual average efficiency of 15 %.
