Sun & Wind Energy discussed perspectives andrnobstacles in the Greek renewable energy sectorrnwith Victoria Kerner-Alexandratou, who hasrnplayed a pivotal role in paving the way for arnsustainable energy industry in Greece.rnAt the Davos World Economic Forum, Greece's Prime Minister Georgos Papandreou spoke of "green growth" as his country's only realistic way out of the economic crisis. He has already taken key steps in this direction. For instance, he has set up a Ministry of the Environment, appointed a proponent of renewable electricity as CEO of the state energy provider PPC and initiated a new renewable energy sources act. But even though Greece has enormous potential for renewable energy and despite the fact that, on the islands, electricity generated from wind power is already cheaper than that generated conventionally, only a few wind farms and photovoltaic systems are in operation.
