PV putting the brakes on biomass electricity

The Czech government plans to step the funding of biogas and solid biomass down a gear and slow down expansion after negative experiences with photovoltaics - but only in the electricity sector. A new "Green Bonus" is to be introduced for heat generation purposes. Looking only at the hard facts, the Czech Republic could qualify as a role model for climate protection and renewable energies among Eastern European accession states. As one of few EU member states, the country achieved the minimum share of 8 % renewable energy of the total power consumption in 2010. The major energy producers are hydro and biomass power plants.
