Strictly speaking, upgrades, optimizations and conscientious maintenance should ensure wind turbines' long service life and high availabilities for their operators. However, too little consideration is often given to electronics, which in some cases leads to hazardous consequences. The wind industry has a clear understanding of maintenance and inspection tasks concerning rotor blades and mechanical drive technology. However, when it comes to electrical engineering, gaps are opening up. On the one hand, this applies to the qualification of service personnel and the small number of experts in electrical engineering.
