Scorcio della struttura sfruttata come copertura; pianta, prospetto, sezione e veduta del modellornII progetto presentato da Shigeru Ban in occasione del G8, a pochi mesi dal sisma, prevedeva la realizzazione di un conservatorio con auditorium costruito con tubi di cartone artigianalmente da volontari e studenti secondo un modello di lavoro già sperimentato in analoghe situazioni, sfruttando una copertura in acciaio esistente e non utilizzata. Tuttavia il progetto non è mai stato avviato, ma è stato archiviato e sostituito con una struttura provvisoria realizzata con gara dalla Protezione civile, con un costo tre volte superiore. All'inizio del 2010, Ban ha proposto al Comune un nuovo progetto, questa volta per il solo auditorium temporaneo, fondato sugli stessi principi.%Giulia's virtual model and plan sketches, virtual model of the definitive projectrnThe project for the nursery school of the temporary village of Onna, a place which had been almost entirely razed to the ground by the earthquake, has been developed on the basis of some drawings that Giulia Carnevale, a student at the Department of Engineering of L'Aquila University who was killed in the earthquake, was preparing for an examination. Within a short space of time (28 days for the design, 15 for the tender process and 39 for the construction), the nursery school was built out of prefabricated panels and stringers made of laminated timber, preserving the pop idea of the original design: a closed book lying on a lawn.
