This exemplary book is a must read for anyone wishing to delve into the technology of Renaissance bronze casting, to understand the intricacies of interpreting an X-radiograph or to learn more about the imperial sculptor Adriaen de Vries (1556-1626). Trained by the master artist Giambologna in Florence, the Dutch-born de Vries returned north after being named court sculptor to Emporer Rudolph II in Prague, where he produced an astounding number of unique bronze statues and established his reputation.
