This excellently produced volume is a compilation of most of the papers presented at an international conference held at Columbia University, New York City, in January 2008. It contains a wide variety of material covering both interiors and exteriors, well put together and intelligently ordered. The subject is a developing one, and the conference, the third in a series, will prove valuable in raising investigative standards, a priority identified by Willie Graham of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation in his keynote address.
