摘要

We are very grateful to Joseph A. Bamberger's thoughtful comments on our paper (Wang et al., 2011). Firstly, for the lead coupon, we did not mention the lead metal film coupon in our paper, mainly because of the potential hazard of lead on human health during its preparation by the vacuum deposition method. In fact, as Bamberger pointed out, lead coupons are indeed important guides to evaluate materials for suitability in display or storage in a museum. Our experiments also verified that White Wood (Serial 29), and White Pine (Serial 30) in Table 8 in our paper showed heavy corrosion on lead resulting in 'U' or 'T' ratings, but on silver and copper metal film coupons showing the 'P' ratings. Therefore, silver and copper metal film coupons may be used for observation and evaluation of possible corrosion effects on art objects containing silver and copper, rather than those containing lead and lead compounds.
