Metallurgy and Civilisation: Eurasia and Beyond

摘要

This volume is the proceedings of the 6th International Conference on the Beginnings of the Use of Metals and Alloys (BUMAVI), published in late 2009 for a meeting held in Beijing in 2006. The six BUMA volumes, as an assemblage, represent a very important set of data concerning ancient metallurgy, and the editors are to be congratulated in keeping the series going. The sixth conference was principally concerned with the archaeometallurgy of the Asian regions of the world. In fact, apart from two papers dealing with Indian iron and South Indian steel and one touching on the Arabic history of steel, the papers are mostly concerned with China and Japan.
