We correct a proof concerning a new basis set of the d-separation claims of a path model.rnShipley (2000) introduced a new inferential test for path models that is based on the graph theoretic notion of d-separation. This test was exact rather than asymptotic and therefore could be applied to small data sets. The test required a new basis set of the d-separation claims of a model (called B_U) and Theorem 1 of that publication argued that B_U was a basis set by showing that a known basis set (B) due to Pearl (1988) implied B_U; namely B → B_U.
