Alconetar Bridge over the River Tagus at Alcantara Reservoir, Caceres, Spain

This article describes the main characteristics and the special building system used for the Alconetar Bridge that crosses A-66 motorway over the Alcantara Reservoir, in Spain.rnThe bridge, whose main stretch is formed by a metal deck arch with a span of 220 m, was carried out by using a series of techniques: deck launching, tilting and lowering large pieces, swivel lifting and rotating quarter arch sections, lowering the semi-arches and then crown closure.
