IABSE History Book to be Presented in London

SAT. The History Book "The first 80 years" is born. It has been written by Prof. Tom F. Peters, Switzerland, and will be presented in September on occasion of the IABSE Annual Meetings and the IABSE-IASS Symposium in London. This publication was made possible by generous financial support from the IABSE Foundation for the Advancement of Structural Engineering. The general outlines of IABSE history were published in the 50th anniversary Jubilee brochure in 1980. This account is the first of its kind and is founded on the careful examination of many archival documents, and interviews with past presidents and longstanding members. Valuable information and unknown details were uncovered that reveal new aspects and the long forgotten work of many pioneers.
