A Project Supported by the IABSE Foundation in Togo

As clearly stated in the IABSE Foundation By-laws, one of its priority goals is the transfer of technology to less developed countries. Therefore, at the beginning of 2010, the Foundation Council unanimously decided to support what was then named as the "Togo Project". The Project was conceived and defined in cooperation with the YOVO Association, a Non-Government Organisation (NGO) located in Venice, Italy and operating since 2003 in Togo, Africa. After more than seven years of activity, YOVO can boast a broad experience in supporting the population of Togo to acquire the necessary knowledge for achieving sustainable and suitable self-construction of the primary facilities that are needed to improve the quality of life, such as small aqueducts, wells and sewerage systems. Togo has proved to be a sufficiently stable country from a political point of view and as suitable to be chosen for the funding of such an applied training programme.
