摘要

Major regeneration and redevelopment in Stratford is being under-taken in preparation for London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA), working with its Delivery Partner CLM, is responsible for building the new venues and infrastructure needed for the 2012 Games and beyond. The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) is responsible for promoting and staging the 2012 Games. The Northern Outfall Sewer (NOS) emerges from below the ground to the west of the Park and cuts through the southern part of the Olympic Park as an elevated embankment. A new underpass is being constructed under the NOS in order to provide spectator access during the Games and improved headroom road access in the long term. The existing disused Marshgate Lane is to be lowered by 3 m in order to provide sufficient highway headroom. In addition to the design and construction of new works for the underpass, this project has involved assessment of cast iron suspended sewers and wrought iron bridge girders, including live structural monitoring and load testing to confirm the effect of construction on the existing structure. Permeation grouting is being used to underpin the existing bridge foundations, and a full-scale permeation grout trial was carried out to confirm the efficiency of the proposal prior to starting the main works. The structure is currently under construction and is scheduled for completion in 2011.
