Scientists share know-how and visions for lunar base

At the Lunar Base Symposium held on 12-13 May 2009 in Kaiserslautern, Germany, scientists and engineers from space-travel related disciplines, as well as civil engineers, process engineers and architects, discussed how a permanent and habitable base on the moon might look one day.rnThe idea for this symposium originated with Professor Wolfgang Breit and Professor Jurgen Schnell, whose Institute for Concrete Structures and Structural Design, at the Technical University Kaiserslautern, is an Associate member of fib. The event was organized in cooperation with the German Aerospace Centre (Deutsches Zentrum fur Luft- und Raumfahrt - DLR), and drew tremendous interest from the scientific and engineering communities across Europe, with over 70 papers on the subject submitted.
