A multi-faceted firewall, with technology from two emerging companies enables seven rural Colorado school districts to cut their monthly Internet access charges, block all unauthorized access into the network, and block websites students aren't allowed to access. Based in Colorado Springs, Colo., the Pikes Peak Board of Cooperative Educational Services (Pikes Peak BOCES), a not-for-profit cooperative, enables about 22 school districts to pool monies and share a variety of resources, such as special education teachers and systems administrators.
