Sino-Russian Technical Forum

On a weekend that saw London gripped by the tragedy of a terrorist attack at London Bridge and a stabbing at Vauxhall, the BIS held a memorable forum attended by a large group of enthusiasts and participants at an event dedicated to the memory of Oleg Sokolov (1945-2016). Oleg graduated from the Moscow Aviation Institute and served as a test engineer on the first flight attempts with the famed N1-L3 system, designed to carry Soviet cosmonauts to the Moon. After three years with that programme and some Proton flights, Oleg joined the Air Force as an engineer and a qualified helicopter pilot, volunteering for service in Syria during the Yom Kippur War of 1973.
