There is surely a conference to be had (nay - a new series of annual conferences) entitled 'What-Might-Have-Beens in the Aerospace World'. It would consider the thousands of aviation and space concepts that bubbled up, tempted by the lure of fat government contracts, from industrial and governmental design departments in the 20th century. From the early 1960s there were dozens of what we would call spaceplane designs being considered in the US, the Soviet Union, Europe and Britain.
