摘要

With the Space Shuttle poised to resume missions this spring after a more than two year hiatus caused by the Columbia accident, Spaceflight correspondent Rudolf van Beest met up with Stephanie Stilson at Kennedy Space Centre (KSC). As Vehicle Manager for the Discovery orbiter, she has a crucial job in the race to get the Shuttle fleet operation again. Even as a young girl Stephanie Stilson dreamed of space and was convinced she would one day work for NASA. Little did Stilson surmise she would eventually be responsible for a Space Shuttle. "I came to KSC for a visit with my father and my brother when I was in third grade -and I remember telling him whilst standing out in the middle of the rocket garden that when I grew up I was gonna work for NASA. He, of course, loves to tell that story," she said.
