Leinbach goes private

Shuttle launch director Michael D 'Mike' Leinbach resigned from NASA on 30 November, 2011, to work in the private aerospace industry but he is keeping quiet for the moment about his precise career destination. During the last flights of Discovery, Endeavour, and Atlantis, Leinbach was visibly moved by the emotion of the final Shuttle missions and outspoken about his dissatisfaction with the way this transportation system was abandoned without a successor in place. He has frequently said in public that nothing will equal for him those days when he was responsible for giving the 'go' for launch of the world's first reusable space transportation system.
