PRESENTING HER LECTURE at the BIS on 20 June, Dr Kanani told us that the project, begun in the 1980s and ending in 2017, re-wrote the textbooks and the information gleaned may take fifty years to analyse! An astrophysicist by training, Dr Sheila Kanani is the Education, Outreach and Diversity officer for the Royal Astronomical Society, and teaches GCSE Astronomy, as well as being a television presenter. As a research scientist, she used computer software to analyse data from the Cassini-Huygens spacecraft, and so was well-qualified to tell us about it and its mission.
