A method of calculating the radiation-induced conduction current in a dielectric layer, several tens of microns thick, with an open irradiated surface and metal-coated backing is presented. The method was developed by the author on the basis of a steady-state approximation to the Rouse-Fowler model. The case is considered where the surface has gained a potential Ud before the accumulation of volume charge, the backing potential is Uc, and the open surface is bombarded by the fluxes of normally distributed high-energy electrons and protons with energies up to 100keV in laboratory conditions.
