Silicon foundries in Singapore and Malaysia: Cautious growth underway

New investments continue in Southeast Asian wafer foundries, although the growth is tempered by some realism about the recent slower growth rate in the industry. UMC and TSMC of Taiwan have announced projects in Singapore. Chartered Semiconductor is modifying but proceeding with expansion plans there, and the startups in Malaysia have been meeting milestones.
