Record-setting production levels in Japan's electronics industry

Coming off a very good year with double digit growth in its electronics industry, Japan's JEITA forecasts continued growth in 2001 reaching ¥27.8 trillion (US$230 million), up 7.1% over 2000's ¥25.9 trillion. These are the best years ever for the Japanese electronics industry, surpassing records set in 1997.
