This work examined the relationship between the zero field carrier mobility and the change in potential distribution caused by space charge in the different subgroups attached to a conjugated polymer such as OC_1C_(10)-PPV. It is proposed that the potential distribution with different values of energy minimum can have a strong bearing on the localization of carriers and a shallow minimum may result in shorter retention time. This effectively has the ability to increase the zero field mobility. For the structures examined, it appears that the length of the subgroups has only a minor effect on changing the depth of the energy minimum while a much larger reduction is observed when symmetric subgroups are physically attached to the same monomer in the polymer backbone.
