An analog front-end (AFE) module designed for use together with andigital cable modem transceiver on one single die is presented. All thenanalog functionality is implemented in a pure 0.18-Μm CMOS processnwith 1.8-V supply. Besides the critical requirements toward substratenand supply isolation, the design of the high-order antialiasing filter,nthe high-performance analog-to-digital converter, and the low-jitternphase-locked loop are most challenging. With a silicon area of 9.9 mmn2 and a power dissipation of less than 1 W, this 3-channelnAFE can be considered a reference design for first-IF sampling (surfacenacoustic wave (SAW)-less) cable modem systems
