摘要

The authors have generalized the results of investigations of the oxidative modification (OM) of fossil coals as the first stage preceding the production of activated carbons (AC). The existing methods of oxidative modification classified by the type of oxidant (oxygen; nitric, perchloric and sulfuric acids; their mixtures and aqueous solutions) are compared. The effect of oxidative modification has been estimated from the changes in the properties of activated carbons. The efficiency of various OM methods has been analyzed upon variation of the nature of the oxidant and modifying agent, the degree of metamorphism of coal and activation conditions.
